Separating the Tricks from the Treats

Boo, Peachtree City! Do you like a good scare? This election season, it’s not haunted houses that are giving people chills — it’s the rumors being spread by my opponent.

Let’s separate the tricks from the treats.

Under my leadership, Peachtree City is thriving. We’ve built a strong, conservative budget, delivered tax relief with both a reduced millage rate and a property assessment cap, and passed a property tax break for low-income seniors. Our Police and Fire Departments are fully staffed, and we are one of the Top Ten Safest Cities in Georgia.

I have stopped overdevelopment, protected our greenspace, revitalized our villages, and moved forward with traffic solutions. Storefronts that sat vacant for years have been filled with quality businesses. Our recreation and special events have never been better, and our quality of life is unmatched.

I’ve run a clean, issues-based campaign. My opponent’s campaign, however, is more ghost story than governance — no plans, no strategies, no vision. Just half truths and misinformation. And rest assured how he campaigns is how he would govern.

Here are just a few of my opponent’s frightful fictions:

Lie #1: “Mayor Learnard wants apartments in Peachtree City.”

Truth: Absolutely not. I’ve blocked apartments and overdevelopment, including twice at the old Kmart site. Our city is built out and I will continue to oppose high density residential.

Lie #2: “Mayor Learnard wants MARTA in Peachtree City.”

Truth: Never. The closest stop will stay in College Park — where it belongs.

Lie #3: “Mayor Learnard changed the city’s Comprehensive Plan.”

Truth: Nope. It’s updated every five years by state law, in a public process with extensive citizen input. City Council approved the Comprehensive Plan in August of 2022.

Lie #4: “There is no restriction on the number of condos at Partners Pizza.”

Truth: False. The zoning limits the number to exactly 12 — and I made sure of it.

Lie #5: “Mayor Learnard approved speed bumps on our cart paths.”

Truth: That ghost story belongs to someone else. In 2022, then–Councilwoman Gretchen Caola requested them. My only role in “Speedbump Gate” was to make them disappear.

Lie #6: “Mayor Learnard wanted the LCI.”

Truth: Not true. That came from the 2019 Fleisch administration. I opposed it, and it’s long since been laid to rest.

So this Halloween, don’t be spooked by political poltergeists. Choose facts over fear, leadership over lies, and community over chaos.

On Election Day, November 4, I ask for your vote — for honesty, stability, and vision. The real deal, not a ghost story.
