Joel Cowan, Peachtree City's founder and first mayor Joel Cowan, Peachtree City’s founder and first mayor, has endorsed Mayor Kim Learnard’s bid for a second term. Cowan’s legacy in Peachtree City is unmatched. A leading proponent for “green space,” his forward-looking vision created one of the nation’s earliest and most successful master-planned communities. One of Fayette County’s busiest roads, Highway 74/Joel Cowan Parkway, bears his name to honor his many contributions.

Today our campaign officially qualified for the ballot. I’d be honored to earn your vote for a second term this November.

When my family moved to Peachtree City 25 years ago, it was for the sports and the schools, and I feel a deep responsibility to protect that legacy. 

It was a standing-room only crowd at City Hall on Memorial Day, where Peachtree City community members gathered to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

“It should be easy to put the family on a golf cart and go to the splash pad without having to worry about your wallet.”

During my tenure as mayor, I have stayed true to my focus on tax relief, public safety, traffic improvements, and recreation.

A bill giving more seniors a break on their property taxes is headed to Gov. Kemp’s desk with the strong backing of Mayor Kim Learnard.
