Peachtree City is a month away from adopting a new budget.

Plan to attend the Budget Public Hearing at our City Council meeting on Thursday, July 10 at 9:30 a.m. and make your voice heard!

Despite inflation and rising costs, Peachtree City has a strong, conservative budget, a AAA bond rating, and a robust rainy day fund for emergencies. We even lowered the millage rate to give YOU tax relief.

What’s in the proposed $58 million budget for Fiscal Year 2026?

Police, Fire, Public Works and Recreation make up 70 percent of the proposed budget. These are the city’s “Big Four” divisions. Nearly half of what residents pay in property taxes to the city goes to public safety and we are proudly recognized as a “Top 10 Safest City in Georgia.” The median value home in Peachtree City pays $568/year, or $1.55 per day, for public safety.

The remaining 30 percent of the budget covers the library, and support services including finance, HR, engineering, communications, administrative services, and planning and zoning.

A pie chart shows the budget distribution for the Peachtree City FY 2026 budget recommendations.
Proposed Budget FY26

FY 26 Proposed Budget Highlights

  • $27 million for Public Safety

    • $13 million for Police

    • $14.2 million for Fire/EMT

    • $292,771 for police reclassifications and three new firefighter positions

  • $7.4 million for Public Works & Grounds

  • $6 million for Recreation and Special Events

  • $2.3 million for Facilities Maintenance and Engineering

  • $1.3 million for Library Administration

  • $1.7 million for Planning & Development

The line items outlined above are based on the city manager’s meetings with department heads, and budget workshops with myself and the city council. Our top priority is to maintain existing service levels in all divisions and departments. This budget is a proposal only – the final budget will be adopted in August 2025.

Note: Many of the upcoming projects our residents are looking forward to such as new pickleball courts and updated playground equipment are already funded in the 2023 SPLOST, which is distinct from the FY26 general budget.

If you can’t attend this week’s council meeting, remember you can also stream it on the city’s Facebook and YouTube pages, or review the budget online HERE and give us your feedback! To email the Mayor and Council Members together, send to citycouncil@peachtree-city.org.
