Peachtree City families are looking forward to summer days at the city splash pad, where they are no longer being charged an entry fee.

Mayor Kim Learnard and the city council voted this month to eliminate the entry fee at the existing splash pad located in the pool area of the Glenloch Recreation Complex. Upon its opening in 2017, residents were charged per-person entry fees for the splash pad. In recent years, the council reduced the fees before eliminating them entirely in May 2025.

Learnard, an outspoken proponent of eliminating burdensome fees, celebrated the victory by handing out popsicles at the splash pad on Saturday alongside her council colleagues.

“It should be easy to put the family on a golf cart and go to the splash pad without having to worry about your wallet,” she said, noting that she’d heard from one mom who had already taken her kids half a dozen times because of the change.

Since assuming office in 2022, Learnard has led the charge to make Peachtree City an even better place for families and businesses to thrive. She ran for mayor on a platform that included “no longer nickel and diming young families.”

In her first term, Learnard oversaw the elimination of card readers at the city’s athletic fields and courts, where coaches and parents used to be charged if they wanted to turn on the field lights.

The city also relocated the iron gate opening at the splash pad and placed benches, with more seating to come.
