June 13, 2025 is National Golf Cart Day and there is no better place to celebrate than in the golf cart capital of the world! Here in Peachtree City, our 100+ miles of multi-use paths lead you anywhere you want to go, on the most scenic routes possible.
Since I assumed office in 2022, our beloved paths have become a top priority. Path maintenance, expansion, and safety are part of the very fabric of our quality of life. We have made gains on each of those fronts while also launching the award-winning “Navigate PTC” mobile app to help you find your way along the paths, anticipate any detours, or report a problem.
Path Maintenance
The beauty of our path system is that it weaves through protected greenspace. This is only possible because we are a planned community that continues to prioritize preservation. Rather than build straight paths along a highway, our paths are constructed so we can traverse woods, parks, and nature areas, and enjoy Mother Nature. Our Public Works crews are responsive and professional. We continue to repave eight miles of path every year on a rotating basis.
Path Expansion
We continue to add new paths. Last fall, we widened the golf cart bridge over Lake Peachtree to allow for two-way traffic along this busy stretch of path. We expanded the path on Robinson Road to provide safe access to Booth Middle School. We are in the design phase for new paths on Sumner Road, North Hill, and north Peachtree Parkway.
Path Safety
Peachtree City is fortunate to be ranked one of the Top 10 Safest Cities in Georgia. During my tenure as Mayor we implemented a significant increase in pay for our public safety personnel and as a result, filled our ranks. Our award-winning Police Department and Code Enforcement patrol and protect our paths. In addition, we have launched a new Transportation Advisory Group to serve as the voice of citizens on issues related to paths, roads, and continued safety.
Navigate PTC App
Our own City staff created and launched the Navigate PTC app, a free download that serves as a resource to help our citizens register a golf cart, receive the weekly newsletter, or find their way to locations citywide including parks, restaurants, shopping, and recreation facilities. This week, the Navigate PTC app received the highly sought-after Hermes Gold Award for excellence in creativity in emerging media, among more than 6,000 applicants.
Impact to Peachtree City
Because of our golf cart infrastructure, Peachtree City is nationally recognized for offering a low emissions, alternative mode of transportation citywide. Since I became Mayor we have been featured in The New York Times, Bloomberg News, and Slate magazine. We routinely host visitors from other cities–leaders who want to learn how we manage planning, construction, maintenance and safety on our renowned multi-use paths. In 2024, we hired a full-time Certified Arborist to amplify our focus on trees; consequently we have been named Tree City USA for the first time in 20 years.
Golf carts and paths are synonymous with Peachtree City. As a mom and grandmother who has been driving a golf cart here for more than 25 years, I am proud to run on my record for our incredible multi-use path system.
